When and where will the Comic Fest take place?
The Comic Fest will take place on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, 10 am – 3 pm, at the Montgomery County Norristown Library. Within the library, there are several areas where activities will be held.
How much does entry cost?
This is a free event! There is no charge to attend, although there are artists and vendors who are selling merchandise and the Lumbrada food truck will be selling food.
What do you do at comic fest?
There are lots of things to do at our comic fest. You can meet with artists and writers, take a drawing workshop, dress up as your favorite characters, interact with various stations, and more! What is Cosplay on Display?
This is our fashion show and cosplay contest for all ages. Email JCove@mclinc.org to register or check with our greeters on Saturday morning to see if there is still room. Participants will walk the “runway” with judges awarding a $100 prize in 13 & under and 14 & under categories. Mostly it is just a fun way to show off our costumes. All ages are encouraged to participate.
What artists and other guests will attend?
There are several artists, writers, cosplayers, and other great guests scheduled to come to comic fest. For a complete list, (including bios), check out the section of this webpage titled “Guests”.
Will I be able to buy anything?
Yes, the artists and vendors participating in the event will have merchandise for sale at their tables.
Will there be food available?
The Lumbrada food truck will be parked outside the Powell Street entrance selling tacos, enchiladas, and more.
Why are there fewer panels this year?
To make room for separate teen and children’s gaming areas and to host the cosplay contest and more interactive events we had to reduce the number of panels this year. Look for more activities that can be experienced at your convenience throughout the day.
Is there a charge to attend workshop?
There is no charge for the workshops or programs.
Do I need a library card?
No, you do not need a library card to attend the event. However, if you are interested in checking out a book from our newly expanded Graphic Novel collection or special comic fest displays you will need to have a library card from Montgomery County.
Will it impact my regular library usage?
This event will not impact your library usage much at all. It may be a little more crowded, and some of the areas will be used for activities, but other than that the library will function as normal.
