Bookmobile Operator
The Bookmobile Coordinator is responsible for providing outstanding library outreach services to the public. This position also supports activities of the Bookmobile and Outreach Services Department by operating bookmobiles and driving delivery vans on regularly scheduled routes and timetables. When not staffing vehicles, the Bookmobile Operator provides back-office support to department operations and covers other library departments and branches, as needed. The Bookmobile Operator must be self-motivated and have a positive attitude toward customer service, possess personal integrity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work individually or on a team.
This position primarily serves residents of municipalities not in the designated service area of a brick-and-mortar library or library branch. The home library for such residents is the district library center, Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library (MC-NPL). Extension bookmobiles provide mobile library branch services to these residents.

Qualifications for Employment
- Must have completed at least one academic year of post-secondary school education, or possess at least 5-7 years of previous work experience.
- Must have demonstrable ability to provide basic reader’s advisory to patrons of all ages.
- Outstanding and enthusiastic customer service skills.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer literacy and experience with a library automation system are preferred.
- Must possess a clean driving record with no suspension or points.

Children’s Services Lead (Bilingual-Spanish Required)
Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library is in search of a full-time Children’s Services Lead Staff. This position is responsible for providing outstanding public library service to patrons, supporting activities of the Children’s Services Department by staffing the public service desk, performing clerical tasks, and coordinating projects, programming, and volunteers. This position may also act as substitute staff at the main library, bookmobiles, and branches, as needed. The ideal person for this position must be self-motivated, have a positive
attitude towards customer service, possess personal integrity, have a strong work ethic, and can work individually or on a team.
This position primarily serves 0-12 year old patrons, their families, and their educators, with an emphasis on Spanish language speakers. The mission focus is to provide public library services at the library and to provide off-site outreach services in the community, including staffing the preschool outreach bookmobile (Books Go Round). Success is measured by demonstrating high engagement and persistent relationships with the library’s service population.

Qualifications for Employment

Preschool Outreach Lead
Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library is in search of a Full-time Preschool Outreach Lead. This position is responsible for providing outstanding public library service to patrons in the Children’s Services Department by staffing the preschool outreach bookmobile (Books Go Round – BGR). Provide library outreach services to 3-5-year-old children in Head Start, Pre-K, preschool, and daycare facilities throughout the county. Establish positive working relationships with facility teachers and staff. Assist the BGR Coordinator in scheduling regular classroom visits. Communicate schedules, policies, and procedures to all stakeholders. Under supervision, develop and maintain the BGR book collection. Design and deliver outreach programs. Provide reader’s advisory to children and teachers. Drive and operate bookmobiles and cargo vans on scheduled routes.
The mission focus is to deliver early emergent literacy programming, circulate library books to classrooms, and provide early public library experiences for preschool-age children. We measure success by demonstrating high engagement and persistent relationships with this special service population and their teachers.
