Assistant Department Head of Technical Services
Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library is in search of a full-time Assistant Department Head of Technical Services. As a direct report to the Technical Processing Department Head, the Assistant Department Head acts as the lead support staff in the department. They also serve as the primary subject expert and manager for the new materials acquisition process for the main library, branches, and bookmobiles. Under the leadership of the department head, the Assistant Head directs the work of staff and volunteers to provide acquisitions, processing, cataloging, and maintenance services for library materials. In the absence of the department head, provide administrative oversight of department staff. On assigned shifts, this position responds as the library’s primary Manager On Duty (MOD).

Qualifications for Employment
- Bachelor’s degree or 10-15 years of previous work experience.
- 3-5 years of previous work experience in a library setting.
- Previous work experience in library technical processing is desired.
- Previous work experience processing and reconciling orders and invoices preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.
- Prior experience with an Integrated Library System (ILS) is required, Polaris ILS is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
Potential employment is contingent upon the submission of the results of the following background checks: PA State Police Criminal History, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI Criminal Background Check. Completion of PA State Mandated Reporter Training within 30 days of hire is also required.

Page (part-time)
Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library seeks a temporary part-time Library Page. This position is responsible for providing outstanding service to patrons. This position supports activities of the Library such as shelving items, assuring shelved items are in the correct order, assisting in stack maintenance projects, and finding items to fill patron hold requests. This position also assists patrons in finding items in stacks. Under the direct supervision of a Department Manager, the Library Page may provide clerk or activity support to other staff. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and have a positive attitude towards customer service, possess personal integrity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work individually or on a team. Weekly schedule may include weekday, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Previous work experience of 0–4 years.

- Reliable transportation to the primary work site.

Reference Librarian (part-time)
Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library is in search of a part-time Reference Librarian. As a direct report to the Reference Services Department Head, the Reference Librarian serves as a professional reference librarian for patrons in the main library, branch, and bookmobile service areas. Provide reference services support to district libraries and their patrons. Participate in regional and statewide virtual reference services. Perform collection development in assigned areas. Write and administer grants to enhance department offerings. Develop and deliver training, workshops, and programs for staff and the public. Cross-train with other departments and branches to provide staffing assistance, as needed.

Qualifications for Employment
- Master’s Degree in Library Science. Ability to obtain certification as a Professional Librarian by PA Bureau of Teacher Certification.
- Experience in patron-facing public library services is preferred.
- Work experience in library reference services is desired.
- Familiarity with Integrated Library Systems (ILS) is preferred and Polaris ILS is desired.
- Spanish language fluency is desired.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
