Support Staff

The Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library seeks a flexible and reliable part time employee to provide excellent customer service to the library community as a member of its Circulation Department team. 15-19 hours per week, including day time hours, at least 2 evenings per week and Saturdays in rotation

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist the Head of Reader’s Services with the following:
· marketing library services
· publicity related to programs and services
· Teen activities including Game Day

Will also perform regular Circulation Desk functions which include but are not limited to:
· assisting patrons at the Circulation Desk
· helping patrons using the photocopiers and other equipment
· operating the telephone switchboard (answering incoming calls, routing calls to appropriate departments, etc.)
· shelving and retrieving materials
· entering, retrieving and applying patron registration data in the library’s automation system database
· other clerical functions, such as typing correspondence, as required.

Main Qualifications include, but not limited to:

· Previous work experience of 0-4 years
· Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
· Must have valid PA driver’s license and the ability to work at any of the Library’s locations
· Must be computer literate, including competence with MS Office Suite and knowledge of professional use of social media
· Must have customer service-driven attitude and recognize the need for and importance of confidentiality

Potential employment is contingent upon completion of the PA State Mandated Reporter Training, and submitting to employer within 60 days of date of hire the results of the following background checks: PA State Police Criminal History, Child Abuse History and FBI clearances.

Cataloger

Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library seeks part-time Cataloger. An MLS degree is required. 18 hours/week, including evenings & Saturdays in rotation. Will catalog print & non-print materials, and assist with database maintenance. OCLC & RDA familiarity preferred. Must be a certified PA Professional Librarian. Ability to work at all locations as required and must have a valid PA driver license. EOE/M-F

Driver

Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library’s Outreach Services Department seeks a dependable and flexible full time delivery van driver. 37 hours per week, including day time hours and Saturdays in rotation for library’s Community Days outreach work.

Primary Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
· drive an extended cargo van countywide
· sorting, packing, delivering and retrieving materials between county libraries
· monitor and fuel vehicles, report needed repairs, perform minor preventive maintenance on vehicles and clean/wash interior and exterior of vehicles as required
· pack reserves for Bookmobile patrons
· deliver and retrieve materials at post office, courthouse and occasionally perform other pick-ups and deliveries at other locations

Main Qualifications include, but not limited to:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· previous work experience of 0-4 years
· possess valid, point-free PA Driver’s License, good driving skills and the ability to work at any of the Library’s locations
· ability to interact well with co-workers and staff members of client libraries
· strong organizational skills
· able to lift and carry up to 50lbs
· stand and sit for long periods of time
· able to bend to floor level and reach overhead.
· delivery experience helpful but not required
· computer literate
