Support Staff III: Children’s Services Lead, Spanish Fluent, Full-Time

The Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library’s Children’s Services Department seeks a full-time (37.0 hours/week) Children’s Services Lead with Spanish language fluency. Includes day, evening, and weekend shifts. Provide outstanding public library service to patrons. Support activities of the department by staffing the public service desk, performing clerical tasks, and coordinating projects, programming, and volunteers. This position primarily serves 0-12 year olds, their families, and their educators, with an emphasis on Spanish language speakers. The successful applicant for this position will be a true team player, self-motivated, and driven to build great relationships with our patrons and our community. Employer-sponsored health insurance, generous paid time off, and other benefits included. Salary: $33,200.00/year.

Must have completed at least one academic year of post-secondary school education, or possess at least 5-7 years previous work experience. Complete Spanish language fluency strongly preferred. Must have working knowledge of children’s fiction and children’s non-fiction books. Must have experience working with the 0-12 year old service population. Demonstrated ability to lead interactive story times/programs for 0-6 year olds. Excellent spoken and written communication skills. Good organizational ability. Ability to deal effectively and pleasantly with the public. Excellent computer literacy. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications preferred. Position requires lifting as much as 30 pounds, standing for extended periods of time, and the ability to substitute at the library’s other locations.

The Perkiomen Valley Library at Schwenksville, a branch of the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library, seeks a part-time (15.0 – 17.0 hours/week) circulation clerk. May include weekday, evening, and weekend shifts. Provide outstanding public library service to patrons. Support activities of the branch by staffing the public service desk, performing clerical tasks, and assisting the Branch Manager and other staff with projects and programming. Greet patrons; answer patron questions in person, by email, and by phone; open and close the library; check in and check out library materials; shelve and retrieve materials. Wage: $10.30/hour.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Previous work experience of 0–4 years. Good organizational ability. Good reading and filing skills. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to deal effectively and pleasantly with the public. Good workstation computer literacy. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications preferred. Working knowledge of Dewey Decimal classification system preferred. Support Staff II: Seniors Outreach Bookmobile Operator—Full Time

The Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library’s Bookmobile & Outreach Department seeks a full-time (37.0 hours/week) employee to operate our seniors outreach bookmobile, Words On Wheels (WOW). This position primarily serves 55+ year old patrons at senior residential facilities and activity centers. The mission focus is to deliver public library services to senior residents of Montgomery County that may experience challenges in accessing a library building. We consistently provide exceptional customer service to this special service population. Drive bookmobiles and delivery vans on regularly scheduled routes and timetables. Provide a mobile library branch experience to our patrons: circulate books, process request holds, provide reader advisory, create/maintain patron accounts, and answer basic reference, technology, and policy questions. Employer-sponsored health insurance, generous paid time off, and other benefits included. Salary: $31,500.00/year.

Must have completed at least one academic year of post-secondary school education, or possess at least 5-7 years previous work experience. College degree preferred. Must have working knowledge of adult fiction and adult non-fiction books. Experience working with the 55+ year old service population preferred. Excellent spoken and written communication skills. Excellent computer literacy. Position requires a valid, points-free PA driver’s license, lifting as much as 30 pounds, standing for extended periods of time, and the ability to work at any of the Library’s locations.

Library Support Staff I: Delivery Driver—Full Time

Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library’s Bookmobile & Outreach Department seeks a full-time employee to drive an extended cargo van countywide, packing, delivering, and retrieving materials between libraries and other locations. Monitors and fuels vehicles, reports needed repairs, performs minor preventive maintenance on vehicles, and cleans/washes interior and exterior of vehicles, as required. This position is full-time, 37 hours per week. Employer-sponsored health insurance, generous paid time off, and other benefits included. Salary: $31,265.00 per year.

Must possess high school diploma or equivalent. Previous work experience of 0-4 years. Strong organizational skills, position involves heavy lifting—sometimes as much as 40 pounds—and standing for extended periods of time. Must possess good driving skills and ability to interact well with co-workers and staff members of client libraries. Position requires a valid, points-free PA driver’s license and the ability to work at any of the Library’s locations.

Library Support Staff I: Conshohocken Branch—Part Time

The Conshohocken Branch of the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library seeks to fill a Library Support Staff I position. This position is part-time, 8-12 hours per week, including afternoons and evenings, and two Saturdays per month in rotation. Employment in this position will begin in August 2021. Wage: $9.40 per hour.

Job duties include, but are not limited to: greeting patrons and helping patrons with library questions in person, over the phone and through email; opening and closing library; checking in materials; shelving & retrieving materials; assisting patrons and coworkers with other duties and projects as requested.

Must be at least 16 years of age and enrolled in high school–OR–18+ years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent. No person under the age of 18 shall be employed without a general employment certificate issued by school authorities. Needs excellent customer service, organizational, reading, filing and communication skills. Computer literacy required, as is reliable transportation and the ability to work at all of MC-NPL’s five locations if needed.

Library Support Staff I: Circulation Department—Part Time

The Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library seeks an employee for its Circulation Department. This Support Staff I position is part time, 22-25 hours per week, including at least one evening per week and Saturdays in rotation. Some benefits included. Wage: $11.00 per hour.

Duties include greeting patrons by phone and in person, staffing the Circulation Desk, registering patrons for library cards, checking on the status of materials, shelf reading, maintaining electronic and paper records, and planning, marketing, and implementing programming for adults and teens. Ability to support the organization’s social media effort is preferred.

Must have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and be able to work at all locations. Must possess a high school diploma or GED, be computer literate, and have 1-4 years of previous work experience.
