Library Support Staff I: Conshohocken Branch

The Conshohocken Branch of the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library seeks to fill a Library Support Staff I position. This position is part-time, 8-12 hours per pay week, including afternoons and evenings, and two Saturdays per month in rotation.

Job duties include, but are not limited to: greeting patrons and helping patrons with library questions in person, over the phone and through email; opening and closing library; checking in materials; shelving & retrieving materials; assisting patrons and coworkers with other duties
and projects as requested.

Must be at least 16 years of age and enrolled in high school–OR–18+ years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent. Needs excellent customer service, organizational, reading, filing and communication skills. Computer literacy required. Reliable transportation and the ability to work at all MC-NPL’s five locations if needed.

Potential employment is contingent upon submission to employer the results of the following background checks: PA State Police Criminal History, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI Criminal Background Check. Completion of PA State Mandated Reporter Training within 30 days of hire will also be required.

Library Support Staff II: Bookmobile Operator—Full Time

The Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library seeks an enthusiastic and engaging public library service employee to join our mobile branch library. Responsible for providing outstanding library outreach service to the public throughout Montgomery County. Drive a 28-foot bookmobile on a rotating schedule including evening and weekend shifts. A CDL is not required, but you must have a valid PA driver’s license with a point-free driving record. Experience in the book trade—bookstores, libraries, and/or library science student, etc., is a big plus. This is a customer-facing position where you will staff a library front desk, field questions from the public, and guide patrons.

Must be self-motivated and have a positive attitude towards customer service. Your employment history should demonstrate personal integrity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work individually or on a team. Computer literacy is required. Familiarity with library automation systems preferred. Must have completed at least one academic year of post-secondary school education, or possess at least 5-7 years previous work experience.

Must have the ability to work at any of the Library’s locations and to fill in as a substitute delivery van driver, as needed. Must be able to lift and move 40 pounds.

Potential employment is contingent upon completion of the PA State Mandated Reporter Training, and submitting to employer the results of the following background checks: PA State Police Criminal History, Child Abuse History, and FBI clearances.

Library Support Staff II: Administration Office—Part Time

The Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library seeks a flexible and reliable part-time employee to provide excellent support to the library community as part of its administrative team. This position’s schedule is fifteen hours per week, including daytime and occasional evening and Saturday hours. Some paid holidays are included.

This Support Staff II position is responsible for ordering and distributing supplies, performing inventory, taking and placing telephone calls, processing invoices, counting and recording cash received, routing mail, and, along with the Administrative Assistant, scheduling library meeting spaces, as well as execution of other clerical and administrative services for the Executive Director.

Must have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and be able to work at all locations. Must have completed at least one academic year of post-secondary school education or possess at least 5-7 years previous work experience. A thorough understanding of the operation of Windows computers and software programs is required. Must be proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Publisher; proficiency with MS PowerPoint preferred.

Potential employment is contingent upon completion of training and submission of satisfactory background checks within thirty days.
