FREE Individual Tech Help

 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Individual Tech Help program has been suspended.

Meet with one of our volunteer Tech Experts in the library to receive FREE 30 minute individual Tech Help sessions. Each of our experts are computer professionals that work with computers on a daily basis.

What can they help me with?

Our Tech Help experts can assist with a variety of topics, including:

  • Using your smart phone, tablet or laptop
  • Filling out online forms and applications
  • Creating and using an email account
  • Extensive formatting of electronic documents such as resumes and presentations
  • Saving files and submitting them electronically (uploading, emailing)
  • Improving use of the internet, including safety and privacy
  • Effective use of social media

Our gurus are NOT able to assist with the following:

  • Troubleshooting or fixing hardware issues
  • Cleaning viruses or malware
  • Basic skills such as using a keyboard & mouseĀ 
  • Using TurboTax or other financial/tax software
  • Job searching

How much does it cost?

Our Tech Help experts graciously provide their time free of charge to the community. However, we do require that you have a library card.

When are they available?

Wednesdays and Thursdays by appointment only. Appointments must be made in advance.

How do I make an appointment?

Appointments must be made through the Computer Lab, eitherĀ in person or by phone at (610) 278-5100 ext. 141. Appointments may be made up to 4 weeks in advance, limited to one appointment per week. The library is not liable for any damage to patron equipment that occurs during the help sessions.

Failure to keep or cancel an appointment may result in loss of opportunity to make another appointment.

What should I bring with me?

  • A valid library card (stop at the front desk before your appointment to make sure your card is not expired).
  • A resume or a written work history if you are receiving resume formatting help or online job application help.
  • Your fully charged device if you are receiving help with a personal device or laptop.
