We are currently planning MAKE MUSIC DAY 2025 (our 4th in the Norristown Area) – Mark your calendars now!

If you want to perform please register at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Fvg84dOjWBa-XX50c-KTR3C24R36otjt7krQX9Um86A/edit?pli=1    We will build a schedule based on musician interest with performances throughout the day.

If you’d like to host performers at your cafe or community space please email Jeanne at JCove@mclinc.org. If you want to volunteer please email Jeanne at JCove@mclinc.org.

What is Make Music?

Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, Make Music is celebrated on the same day in more than 2,000 cities in dozens of countries around the world.

Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours into community spaces to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public. We invite musicians, rappers and instrumentalists of all kinds to collaborate on making June 21 a musical masterpiece. Singers, church choirs, jazz combos, rock bands, glee clubs, MCs, marching bands, mariachis, and every other kind of musician, of any age group or skill level, are all welcome.

Make Music Day en junio 21.

Manda un correo electrónico a Jeanne en la biblioteca a la dirección JCove@mclinc.org para inscribirte para presentarte como músico o para inscribirte como anfitrión voluntario.

The Norristown Cookbook Club is back by popular demand. Each month we choose a cookbook. It is put on display at the circulation desk at the Norristown Public Library. Choose a recipe and make free copies or order the book from another library (or find an ebook copy if available). Make the recipe at home and bring it to cookbook club to share. We will taste and discuss the chosen recipes.  Register by emailing Jeanne at JCove@mclinc.org or using the events tab on this website (click on the event listing and scroll down to the register button).

Our next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2025. We will be making recipes from The Tucci Cookbook by Stanley Tucci. (We are skipping May because of the library move.)

For acclaimed actor Stanley Tucci, teasing our taste buds in classic foodie films such as Big Night and Julie & Julia was a logical progression from a childhood filled with innovative homemade Italian meals: decadent Venetian Seafood Salad; rich and gratifying Lasagna Made with Polenta and Gorgonzola Cheese; spicy Spaghetti with Tomato and Tuna; delicate Pork Tenderloin with Fennel and Rosemary; fruity Roast Duck with Fresh Figs; flavorful Baked Whole Fish in an Aromatic Salt Crust; savory Eggplant and Zucchini Casserole with Potatoes; buttery Plum and Polenta Cake; and yes, of course, the legendary Timpano.

May 19th, 2025:  Felicity by Mary Oliver

Summary: “If I have any secret stash of poems, anywhere, it might be about love, not anger,” Mary Oliver once said in an interview. Finally, in her stunning new collection, Felicity, we can immerse ourselves in Oliver’s love poems. Here, great happiness abounds.

Our most delicate chronicler of physical landscape, Oliver has described her work as loving the world. With Felicity she examines what it means to love another person. She opens our eyes again to the territory within our own hearts; to the wild and to the quiet. In these poems, she describes—with joy—the strangeness and wonder of human connection.
