District Consultant Librarian

Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library is in search of a Full-time District Consultant.  The District Consultant advises staff, advisory boards, friends’ groups, librarians, library directors, para-professional staff, and municipal officials of the public libraries of the Montgomery County Library District on matters related to collection development, reference and reader’s advisory service, programming, and administration of adult services.  This position is based out of the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library and there is a significant amount of travel that is required throughout Montgomery County.

This position also ensures that the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library, in its capacity as District Library Center (DLC) for the public libraries of Montgomery County, provides leadership, support, and coordination for services throughout the district.  Serves as a liaison between DLC staff and district libraries. Works with district library staff and Boards to develop best library management practices.  May serve as liaison between public libraries of Montgomery County and organizations such as social service agencies, governmental and community organizations in furthering literacy needs throughout the district.  May be required to act as a non-voting member, on the Board of the Montgomery County Library and Information Network Consortium (MCLINC).

Qualifications for Employment:

Assistant Department Head of Technical Services

Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library is in search of a full-time Assistant Department Head of Technical Services. As a direct report to the Technical Processing Department Head, the Assistant Department Head acts as the lead support staff in the department. They also serve as the primary subject expert and manager for the new materials acquisition process for the main library, branches, and bookmobiles. Under the leadership of the department head, the Assistant Head directs the work of staff and volunteers to provide acquisitions, processing, cataloging, and maintenance services for library materials. In the absence of the department head, provide administrative oversight of department staff. On assigned shifts, this position responds as the library’s primary Manager On Duty (MOD).

Office Assistant

Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library is in search of a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Assistant to join our team. The Office Assistant is responsible for performing general clerical duties, assisting with in-coming telephone calls, filing and organizing documents, ordering and distributing supplies, managing administration office supply inventory, processing invoices related to supply orders, counting and recording departmental cash received on a weekly basis, and maintain updated records of volunteer files, clearances, and hours. This position also aids the Administrative Assistant to ensure the smooth operation of the administration office and provides administrative assistance to the Director of Development.

Library Page (Part-Time, Seasonal)

Royersford Free Public Library is seeking a temporary part-time Library Page to assist with the busy summer months.  This position’s primary responsibility is to assist the Youth Services Coordinator with summer programs.  This position will also support other activities of the library such as shelving items, assuring shelved items are in the correct order, assisting in stack maintenance projects, providing clerk or activity support to other staff, and finding items to fill patron hold requests, and assisting patrons in finding items in stacks. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and have a positive attitude towards customer service, possess personal integrity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work individually or on a team.  The weekly schedule may include weekday, evening, and weekend shifts.

Digital Literacy Clerk, Part-Time

 Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library seeks a part-time (19 hours/week) Digital Literacy Clerk.  Responsible for providing outstanding computer assistance to patrons in the computer lab, helping with a wide range of digital tasks such as creating resumes, filling out job applications, creating email accounts, and sending emails. Assist with the implementation of computer instruction curriculum, offering one-on-one instruction and teaching classes as needed.  Supports activities of the MC-NPL by staffing the public service desk when needed, performing clerical tasks, and assisting the Department Head and other staff with projects and programming. Act as substitute staff at the circulation desk, and in other departments at the main library, bookmobiles, and branches, as needed. Must be self-motivated and have a positive attitude towards customer service. Must possess personal integrity, a strong work ethic, and ability to work individually or on a team.

Bookmobile Coordinator 

The Bookmobile Coordinator is responsible for providing outstanding library outreach services to the public. This position also supports activities of the Bookmobile and Outreach Services Department by operating bookmobiles and driving delivery vans on regularly scheduled routes and timetables. When not staffing vehicles, the Bookmobile Operator provides back-office support to department operations and covers other library departments and branches, as needed. The Bookmobile Operator must be self-motivated and have a positive attitude toward customer service, possess personal integrity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work individually or on a team.

This position primarily serves residents of municipalities not in the designated service area of a brick-and-mortar library or library branch. The home library for such residents is the district library center, Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library (MC-NPL). Extension bookmobiles provide mobile library branch services to these residents.

Branch Manager

Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library (MC-NPL) is in search of a Branch Manager for our Upper Perkiomen Valley (UPV) branch.  This branch is located in Red Hill, PA.  The Branch Manager is responsible for monitoring overall library operations, including: staffing, collection development, public services, and liaison among library staff, MC-NPL’s Executive Director, and the UPV Library Board.  It is the responsibility of the Branch Manager to ensure that the highest possible levels of library services are provided to the residents of the UPV service area. At the discretion of the Branch Manager, specific tasks and responsibilities may be delegated; however, the Branch Manager is ultimately accountable to the MC-NPL Executive Director and the UPV Library Board for providing quality service and maintaining professional standards according to approved policies and the mission of UPV Library.
