Tax Season


Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library will not host a tax filing assistance program for the 2019 filing year. Click the FREE TAX FILING ASSISTANCE PROVIDERS tab below for a list of organizations that will provide assistance.

The library has received the 1040 and 1040 SR (seniors) tax forms. Libraries will not receive any 2019 Pennsylvania State tax forms including the PA Property Tax and Rent Rebate forms. Click the TAX FORM INFORMATION tab for the websites and locations providing forms.


The following are services provided to members of the community. Be mindful that certain organizations require qualifications in order to provide assistance.

AARP Tax Aide
This year AARP’s free tax filing service will be located at the Upper Merion Township Library every Friday from February 8th through to April 12th between the hours of 9AM to 2PM. Reservations have already begun.

To schedule an appointment with the AARP volunteers, please call 610-265-4805 Monday through Friday between the hours of 9AM and 5PM. Outside of those times, names will be taken but no appointments scheduled.

Campaign for Working Families
Tax filing services are available, for free, for families with a household income of $55,000 or less. Sites open in Pennsylvania on January 21st.

Norristown CADCOM
Due to Coronavirus concerns, CADCOM has suspended tax filing assistance for the time being.

Federal Taxes:

The library has received the following tax forms for the 2019 fiscal year: 1040 and 1040 SR (Seniors.)

There is no 1040A no 1040EZ for 2018 due to changes in tax laws. The 1040 is now the basic tax form.

The IRS website has available for print tax forms. It also has helpful tips and guides to assist in filling out the forms.

State Taxes:

Libraries will not receive any Pennsylvania State tax forms in 2020.

The PA Department of revenue is no longer distributing them to libraries. Forms are posted on the Department of Revenue’s website.

The Department of Revenue will provide PA tax forms and Rent Rebate forms in early February. The office nearest to the library is:
