Support Staff III: Spanish Fluent Children’s Services Lead

The Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library’s Children’s Services Department seeks a full-time (37.0 hours/week) Children’s Services Lead with Spanish language fluency. Shifts include day, evening, and weekend hours. This position provides outstanding public library service to patrons, supports the activities of the department by staffing the public service desk, performing clerical tasks, and coordinating projects, programming, and volunteers. This position primarily serves 0-12-year-old children, their families, and their educators, with an emphasis on Spanish language speakers. The successful applicant for this position will be a true team player, self-motivated, and driven to build great relationships with our patrons and our community.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed at least one academic year of post-secondary school education, or possess at least 5-7 years of previous work experience.
  • Spanish language fluency is strongly preferred.
  • Must have a working knowledge of children’s fiction and children’s non-fiction books.
  • Must have experience working with the 0-12-year-old service population.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to lead interactive story times/programs for 0-6-year-old.
  • Must have excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Must have good organizational ability.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and pleasantly with the public.
  • Must have excellent computer literacy.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications preferred.
  • This position requires lifting as much as 30 pounds, standing for extended periods of time, and the ability to substitute at the library’s other locations.

Support Staff I: Digital Literacy Clerk, Part-Time

 Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library seeks a part-time (19 hours/week) Digital Literacy Clerk.  Responsible for providing outstanding computer assistance to patrons in the computer lab, helping in a wide range of digital tasks such as creating resumes, filling out job applications, creating email accounts, and sending emails. Assist the Digital Literacy Lead with the implementation of the computer instruction curriculum, offering one-on-one instruction and teaching classes as needed.  Supports activities of the MC-NPL by staffing the public service desk when needed, performing clerical tasks, and assisting the Department Head and other staff with projects and programming. Act as substitute staff at the circulation desk, and in other departments at the main library, bookmobiles, and branches, as needed. Must be self-motivated and have a positive attitude towards customer service. Must possess personal integrity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work individually or on a team.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and previous work experience of 0-4

  • Ability to deal effectively and pleasantly with the public.

Delivery Driver, Full-Time

Montgomery County – Norristown Public Library’s Bookmobile and Outreach Department is searching for a full-time Delivery Driver.  The Outreach Department is responsible for packing, delivering, and retrieving materials throughout the Montgomery County library branches.  The ideal fit for this position must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to drive an oversize cargo van, have a strong work ethic, be dependable, work well as a team member and also independently, and have excellent time management and organizational skills, have a keen sense of attending to details, and have the ability to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and client library staff.
