Children Services


Science in the Summer

Science in the Summer Science in the Summer is a free science education program that helps get kids excited about studying science with hands-on experiments. This year’s theme is “simple machines”.

Sessions run for two consecutive Saturdays on July 14 and 21, or for four consecutive weekday mornings from July 16-19.

Level I: Children completing grades 1 or 2 in June

Level II: Children completing grades 3, 4, or 5 in June

Sign ups begin May 1. Registration must be made in person at the library Children’s Department. Call 610-278-5100 x 205 for more info.



Special Events


Daria:World Music
for Children
Daria: World Music for Children
Date: Tuesday, April 24
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Ages: 3-6 years

Where: Children’s Department, 2nd floor

Preschoolers will sing and dance along with Daria in this musical program featuring song from around the world. Part of our special preschool programming in honor of the Month of the Young Child.

Age Limit: Birth - Three Years Old.

Simple stories, songs, fingerplays and creative movement with a caregiver.



PreSchool Story Time
PreSchool Story Time
We are taking a spring break from PreSchool Story Times so our staff can go out to visit schools. Story Time will resume in a few weeks.

Date: Third Saturday of the Month
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Age Limit: Elementary Age
Where: Children’s Department, 2nd floor

Children can build confidence and reading skills while reading out loud to specially trained dogs.


Afterschool@theLibrary

Date: Second Tuesday of the month
Time: 2 p.m.
Age Limit: 6-12 years
Where: Children’s Department, 2nd floor

May 8 – Karaoke Fun! Come sing your favorite songs, or watch your friends perform!


Let’s Read Math!
Lets Read Math
Date: Thursdays, May 3 – 30
Time: 10:30 am
Age Limit: 3-5 years
Where: Children’s Department, 2nd floor

Using an entertaining story that introduces math concepts, preschoolers will enjoy activities that build pre-math skills like counting, sorting and patterns.

Registration required.

Lego Club
Lego Club
Date: Second Saturday of the month
Time: 10:30 a.m. - noon
Age Limit: None!
Where: Children’s Department, 2nd floor

Build, create, have fun with other LEGO lovers. For kids of all ages.

What’s New in the Youth Services Department!



TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.

The Children’s Department Staff provides support for children’s information needs. We help children find resources for homework, recreational reading, and science fair projects, as well as guide them in finding resources that are appropriate for their reading abilities. Resources are also available for parents and teachers on topics relating to children’s development.

Children’s Internet Access
Children with library cards in good standing whose parents have signed the Internet Guidelines agreement, are allowed access to the Internet.
